Our new President

  • December 5, 2016

The Olympic Kingsway Sports Club is a special place. It has been to all our members, supporters and players since 1953. Ask our rivals, and they to will tell you Olympic is a wonderful, welcoming place to come and play.

My first days at the club were as a 6-year-old some 32 years ago. Olympic was my life and my walls at home were covered with photos alongside my heroes from the senior team. I still have a scrapbook full of newspaper clippings from the 1980’s.

Now, with the help of everyone, it’s time to take this famous club ‘Back to the top’.

Our five-year strategic plan for 2017-2021 will be revealed soon. This document will be the blueprint of what we want to achieve and how we plan to successfully achieve our objectives. This can only be done collectively. For Olympic Kingsway to return to the top of West Australian Soccer, we need to behave like a professional sports club with all our actions. We also need to dream big. My vision is have Olympic Kingsway on the national stage, playing in an FFA Cup game against an A-League club live on Fox Sports under the bright lights from our home ground.

To be President of the Olympic Kingsway Sports Club is a privilege. To follow previous Presidents such as Nick Trandos OAM, Paul Afkos OAM and John Ward to mention a few is a huge responsibility and one, along with my new board we will treat with respect. Our decisions will always be treated with the intention to make this club stronger and better for our members.

There are so many exciting projects about to commence, highlighted by our brand new $2.5 million change rooms and grandstand. The support of our local council at the City of Waneroo is treasured and we look forward to growing our vision with them to create the best Soccer precinct in the Northern suburbs, here at Olympic Kingsway.

To the “Green Machine” family, thank you for your support, I look forward to enjoying this great club with you all.
